Staff Development, Day One. Part of me is very excited to get back to school. I have had a lot of time this summer to think about things and plan. This is my second year here and so the kids will know me better also. We had rehearsal this morning and then spent the rest of the day sort of preparing for the year. I worked at the junior high. It was cool to see some of my teacher friends there. We have a new junior high choir director also, and I got to talk with her some. It will definitely be an interesting, to say the least.

Ooh! I got three new 8th grade students who have moved in and they have all been playing for two years in different schools. That’s really exciting. As it looks now, we will probably have about 110 students in 7th and 8th grades. Compared to last year’s 60, that is a huge jump. And we should be pushing 130 in 6th grade. It’s exciting to see what we are doing in the task of rebuilding the program. it sort of went through three or four years of disrepair and now we are really seeing the results of that. Sort of like the economy during a Democratic president. He comes in on the wave of the sound Republican economic plans and then reaps the benefits of it. So instead of fiscal responsibility, he spends, spends, spends! And then spends some more. :)
