I taught some lessons last night. I really do enjoy teaching private lessons and working with the same kids I have taught since they were beginners. Alex is going to college and will be majoring in music performance. That is a wonderful feeling to know that I had some impact on the life of a person enough to make music be the career of choice.
I see more and more people at the school getting ready for classes to begin. Next week will be staff development, and the first day will be on the 18th. It should be a good year. The way that I respond to those things that happen will be a key element in determining the way that the school year goes. It will definitely be much smoother as we have a better idea what is going to be going on and will be able to better plan for upcoming “surprises” that sort of took me off guard last year. It is fun being back with the high school kids and working on their marching and playing. It is not going to be an easy year, but it should be substantially less stressful on me, which is a real positive thing!
