@Jason D. - Agreed. As you've said, social justice is a great thing. So is preaching!

It's too easy to go off to one extreme or the other. Either you are on the side of visiting orphans and widows in their trouble, or else you're on the side of keeping oneself unspotted from the world. James says pure and undefiled religion is doing both.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('33','Joel Wagner','<a href=\'#comment-29\' rel=\"nofollow\">@Jason D.<\/a> - Agreed.
good post and good thoughts,...it is interesting to see how God uses the "foolishness" of preaching to save some, and it is His gospel that is the power of God to salvation. Good works, ministries of mercy, and social justice are all good and we are told to do them, but we are also told to preach the gospel to every creature,...if their a positive response if all we are going for then most people would be much happier if we never said a word to them,...that is because they do not know the excellencies of Christ and exchange the glory of God for corruptible things. God is the one who saves and and you stated in the Romans 10 passage He does it through the means of a preacher.

Soli Deo Gloria!
