Book Meme
Junior didn’t tag me for this book meme. He actually didn’t tag anyone, but Curt decided to join in, so I will also.
I am supposed to pick up the nearest book with at least 123 pages, turn to the 123rd page, find the 5th sentence and post the three sentences immediately after that. The nearest book was my bookshelf. So I decided to find the latest book I read and see if it fit the criteria. It did. It’s Power Through Prayer by E.M. Bounds.
To pray is the greatest thing we can do; and to do it well there must be calmness, time, and deliberation; otherwise it is degraded into the smallest and meanest of things. True praying has the largest results for good; and poor praying, the least. We cannot do too much of real praying; we cannot do too little of the sham.
This is good! I’m gonna continue on, because every time I read E.M. Bounds, he puts me to shame.
We must learn anew the worth of prayer, enter anew the school of prayer. There is nothing which it takes more time to learn. And if we would learn the wondrous art we must not give a fragment here and there — “A little talk with Jesus,” and the tiny saintlets sing — but we must demand and hold with iron grasp the best hours of the day for God and prayer, or there will be no praying worth the name.
Tag, you’re it
I’m interested to see what Chris, Ryan, and Jason are reading now.
If I didn’t tag you, I’m still interested. Either blog about it and link back here, or post your results in the comments below…
