Personal Life Vision
I was looking at a website the other day where this girl had basically outlined a life vision. I thought it was a really cool idea and I have on occasion come up with plans for the year or the month or whatever along those lines. Never have I really sat down and considered what I want to see happen in my life. Or at least, not in such a way that I have articulated and codified it on paper. So perhaps this will be an attempt at that very thing. At the very least, I will get some stuff typed out and go back and add verse references and all that stuff later on.
Where [there is] no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy [is] he. (Proverbs 29:18)
I suppose it is easiest to break up my life vision into at least two categories. All three are interrelated, and most importantly, I am striving to have an undivided heart which will yield an undivided life that will glorify my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The three focus ares in my life are My Ministry and My Life’s Direction. All of these plans are subject to change as I am not the captain of my own destiny, but the Lord is. If the Lord wills, I shall go to such and such a city and do this or that.
Ministry
It is my desire to honor God and not hide my talents.
- Every believer has been given the ministry of reconciliation. As a result, it is my duty to share the good news of the gospel with as many people as I can. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation to all those who believe, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”
- I believe that, among others, I have the spiritual gift of teaching. This has nothing to do with my vocation as an educator, and this gift will not help or hinder that job. I have started a Bible study in my home and am seeking other opportunities to exercise and develop this gift to help edify, equip, and empower the body of Christ.
- As the light of the world and the salt of the earth, it is my role to let my light so shine before men that they see my good works and glorify my Father in heaven.
- I will faithfully serve in whatever local (or not-so-local) church body God has placed me in. I currently do that by playing in the praise band where I go.
Direction
It is my desire to grow in the grace and knowledge of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
- With Paul, my heart’s desire is that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection. To be true to that statement, with those two come to know the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death if, by any means, I may atain to the resurection from the dead. I like the first part. I don’t like the second part. But I know that everything that God has for me is good, so it’ll work.
- As a child of God, I must offer my body a living sacrifice unto Him and be open to any change of plans that He may have for me. If I knew today what will happen in my life five years down the road, I wouldn’t want to go there. I know His ways are higher than my ways, and so I place my trust in Him.
- The only true direction comes from the word of God. The only way to see my life transformed is by the renewing of my mind to the word of God. Therefore, I must renew daily spend time in consistent, straightforward Bible study.
- Prayer is the work behind any great movement of the Holy Spirit. A prayerless Christian is a powerless Christian.Jesus told his disciples that when the Holy Spirit came upon them, they would receive power from on high. If I fail in my fellowship with God, I will be weak.
More will doubtless come later as I have opportunity to sit down and peruse what I have written, edit it, revise it, and see what ends up being churned out.
